Dear John and Everyone,

Are we confusing "tribal" with "nomadic" here? It's my impression that it takes a certain amount of wealth (in the form of animals) to be a nomad. This must be true for a pastoral nomad since he is, by definition, a sheepherder who moves his sheep between summer and winter pastures. How can a nomad be agriculturally based? Does he own farm land in several places and travel between them? Or, as I suspect, is he a tribesperson who is not nomadic?
