You are right, of course, in pointing out that many nomads migrate between fixed places of residence and, in that sense, it is incorrect to say that they do not have a fixed place of residence.
My point, though, was that they pack up everything they own (house and all) and move it seasonally. When you summer at your compound at the Hamptons, it's there waiting for you when you arrive and your Manhattan penthouse is waiting for your return - you may even commute on weekends. I suppose we could carry the semantic matter to extremes - everybody has a fixed place of residence, even if it changes hourly. But that is somehow not the same as being sedentary rather than nomadic.
