Dear Steve,
Thanks for private& public responses and scientific informations.
I think some researches/tests must have been performed on the rug smell somewhere. I remember that I saw on a board a post about "antique aroma" production. So some researches about the odors of rugs have been done. My curiosity was on if much more powerful (or very different) odors are emitted from hand woven rug comparing with the closest objects to it.
By the way, another question which may arise can be that "particularly in this rug world, are we living in a world of a combination of visual and odor?" We cannot ignore the odor which has been implicitly expressed often by collectors by "feelings", can we?
And the transmission of odors...
The problem whether the odor in general can be transmissed or not is out of our topic. But the lack of transmissions of "rug odors" is not very irrelevant to our topic even it is not possible by todays technology. At least, a missed point was mentioned.
We don't know if the odor will be transmitted in the future or not. But if it can be done, the real
paradigms will shadow all other paradigms in this combined world of rug and net.
Regards,
Erol
