Spending just a couple minutes with my trusty Metafind search engines I found a huge list of oriental rug dealers with Web sites. Most are pretty primitive, nothing more than the Web equivalent of a printed brochure with little or no interactivity...like someone told them they needed to be on the Web and they said, okay, what's the cheapest way?
Some, however, are making an attempt to use the Internet to sell their merchandise.
My question, then, is: Are we "there" yet? What will it take for people to send real money for a rug they've only seen pictures of? Would you do so? And, finally, how do you explain the apparent success of rug sales on eBay?
