But the real question is this: are you confident enough that you got a bargain and sound
: guidance to post your rugs here or in the virtual show and tell and see what feedback you get?
: As for me, I have yet to buy anything on E-bay, though I have made some bids, and continue to think about, well, other things in addition to rugs.
: Good luck, Michael
Dear Michael and all concerned readers:
OK, if someone who's knowledgeable offers specifics on how to photograph rugs for e-posting, I will get vulnerable and post images for discussion.
Do we need to discuss in advance any simple issues? E.g.,
1) what are the limits of relevance for T-Tek? (e.g. I'd be delighted to see discussion of my probably antique nw persian, but is it within this board's ambit?)
2) can we expect of each other reasonable directness without offending dealers, who should, I suppose, not only feel free to enter in but feel integrally involved?
3) --and if it goes ahead, can we balance gentle and frank talk to novice ruggies (like me?) who paid say 10x a reasonable informed buyer's price for a "nice rug?"
Is there a Pandora's box here? Is Michael too utopian? Are we at ease with the prospect of such an increase in open market-information?
