There's a workshop in Konya, Turkey (active now and sorry, I can't remember the name) that makes rugs that look very much like the one shown here. Their rugs have the same distinctive amalgam of bold design elements and in particular, the same palette. As I recall, their workforce is not what I would call "professional weavers". This could explain the irregularities in the rug. Is it possible that the date offered for this rug is incorrect?
