ersari or kizil ayak ? how old ?

hello, i just get this great turkmen rug, full pile, mint condition, satured great colors. how old for you ?

Yeah, nice carpet! I just saw this being sold, so you must be the lucky buyer! Congratulations!! I think it's fabulous, great colors and condition, and it is an unusual size. You don't show the back, but... I don't think it's Kizil Ayak. The tauk naushka guls are very similar to that sort on a Kizil Ayak, but the rest looks like Ersari to me. The Ersari and Kizil Ayak weavers were neighbors in the Middle Amu Darya region, so it isn't surprising that they borrowed from each other. And I think it's from deep in the 19th-c., with those colors and drawing. That red ground is exquisite! Maybe mid-19th-c.?

The triple loop brown border screams Ersari to me. What a great piece. Congrats.
