Friends and colleagues,

Hi All
I'm saddened to report that Marla passed away last night (December 13, 2024) after a long illness. She was a fine person and I feel privileged to have known her.

Marla's contributions to the study of the weaving artform are invaluable, and her book "Woven Structures: A Guide to Oriental Rug and Textile Analysis:" a classic.
Her frequent worldwide travel gave her first-hand information on methods and materials that is difficult to otherwise acquire, as did her observation of contemporary nomadic and village weavers.
Her contributions to Turkotek, and willingness to provide advice and comment offline, will be missed. I am deeply saddened at this news.
Regards,
Chuck Wagner
