Dear folks -

As the person who orginally argued most specifically for the establishment of our "idea board for rug club programs," it seems appropriate for me to ask whether this feature should be retained on Turkotek.

I have noticed, as an instructional designer, how impoverished the design of most rug club meeting are. And it seemed to me that a likely source of this tendency was that the poor rug club program chairpeople were saddled with coming up continually, and usually on their own, with good rug club meeting ideas and designs.

I thought we could make a "space" where we could collect ideas and even complete designs that rug clubs might use.

Problem: I've put a few meeting designs up but have noticed that there is almost no activity from others on this sector of Turkotek.

Now it's probably not very costly to just leave it there and we can't really tell whether it gets used at all, but perhaps we should acknowledge that it was a seeming good idea that in practice has apparently not produced the results intended.

Maybe we should "will" this sector of Turkotek to ACOR. They aim to serve as a resource to rug clubs and, perhaps can do so in a way that we cannot.

Anyway, while I don't think it's a "heavy" issue, I'd like to hear from others about whether the idea board for rug club meeting designs is worth retaining.

Thanks,

R. John Howe

Hi John,

I think the major consideration in this board should be whether anyone ever uses it for anything, rather than the frequency with which new posts appear.

So: If anyone out there finds it useful, please let me know by e-mail or by responding to this thread. If nobody finds it useful, we probably ought to just take it down.

Dear All,

Yes !! The board should be keep. It acts as a resource for first time readers. What should happen though is every half year or so a new item should be added so that the regulars open the board and refresh there memories.

best

Hi Richard,

Although we had envisioned that board as being useful to program chairs in rug clubs, I am glad to ehar that it's interesting to newcomers. That would seem to me to be adequate justification for its continued existence - it takes up very little server space or labor.

Your suggestion that some new thread be added to it every six months or so is not so easy for us to implement. It can only happen when someone has some suggestion for a rug club program, and we don't have a way to generate such things on demand. At least, I don't.

Steve Price
