Dear all,

Following is an detailed image of the ugliest piece I have ever bought as a collectible. It is an extra weft knotted sumak khordjin face (commonly, but somewhat erroneously, referred to as reverse sumak). If readers cannot tell how hideous the palette of the bag face is, that fact will perhaps excuse my judgment in buying it on eBay a couple of years ago. I knew that the eBay image wasn't true, but I hoped that the error would be in my favor. No such luck.

The profuse use of now faded fuchsine gives a greyish cast and the "natural" colors are all muddy - the blue, the red, the burnt orange, even the green. I used a scan of a portion of the face for two reasons: first, even as an April Fool's joke, this isn't worth wasting any film.; second, showing more than a portion might do permanent damage to monitors around the world.

This piece illustrates the importance of color. If it just had good color, not great, it would have been a decent buy. But then, if cows had wings ... .
