Dear all,
Following is an detailed image of the ugliest piece I have ever bought as a collectible. It is an extra weft knotted sumak khordjin face (commonly, but somewhat erroneously, referred to as reverse sumak). If readers cannot tell how hideous the palette of the bag face is, that fact will perhaps excuse my judgment in buying it on eBay a couple of years ago. I knew that the eBay image wasn't true, but I hoped that the error would be in my favor. No such luck.
This piece illustrates the importance of color. If it just had good color, not great, it would have been a decent buy. But then, if cows had wings ... . Wendel |
