Dear All,
The virtual trip of the Hajj Flea Market was originally meant for a
Show and Tell posting. But it grew so large, image wise, that for
practical reasons it was decided to be hosted in a Salon. I did not expect
an awful lot of comments, and in fact there weren’t too many. The most
interesting of them suggested that the trading of goods, especially rugs,
during the Hajj contributed for centuries to the diffusion and exchange of
design and motifs between peoples who lived in remote areas. Some of
you also found that Flea Markets all over the world look alike pretty
much, and if you live in the States you may be able to find very
interesting rugs in similar (if not so exotic and romantic)
surroundings. One last point I’d like to stress again is that Digital
Photography has now reached such a degree of affordability and easiness of
use to permit an almost effortless realization of this Salon. Thank
you very much to you all, Filiberto Boncompagni |
