Since so many of the recent and significant acquisitions of the
museums are rug which have recently emerged from the field, one may assume
they never were treated so delicately as our museum hosts do. For example,
the animal rugs from Tibet have really suffered in the field, exposed to
all that light, and not only light but the relatively unfiltered light of
the extremely high altitudes. Such a pity they were mistreated for so
long, and look at them now! Merely shadows of their former glory. Truly a
pity. |
