mamstey1@rochester.rr.com Once again, thanks, John, for bringing fun TM events to us in the provinces. Only one point comes to mind, apropos of the cypress tress that I posted on show-and-tell. I agree that Wendels's city rug - Kirman - is beautiful. It's easy to notice that it has very welldone cypress trees. If I had to choose the best of the lot, it would be the Kirman prayer and the Senneh kilim. Best regards, Marvin |

jpweil00@gte.net Marvin, Wendel has presented what I would call a "wealth" of rugs. (Like a flock of birds, a herd of cattle) I, too, like the Kirman Prayer rug, but also the filikli; it has an impact and a wildness that remind me of what first drew me to rugs. The Kirman may present not a prayer rug but the scene from the window of the weaver; a harem dweller restricted from many exciting outdoor activities but close enough to record them for posterity. mamstey1@rochester.rr.com I didn't know you were a poet, Patrick; that's a rather nice image: looking out the harem window! Regards, Marvin |

Hi, Like Marvin, my favorites include the Kerman, but the real jem, in my view, is the Zoroastrian embroidery. Its the second time I have seen pictures of this, but the first time I have really looked at it and appreciated it for the wonder it is. Best Stephen Louw slouw@global.co.za |
