Dear Daniel,
It is difficult to assess the age without seeing it, but I think it is not new but it also may not be very old either. The devolution of the design is interesting to follow.
I believe that the yellow ground rug could possibly be Shahsavan, based not only on its design but on structural similarities to a limited number of other pile rugs of this same size that I think also could be Shahsavan. We will never know for sure.
The blue ground rug would not appear to be Shahsavan. On the other hand, I have seen what was described to me as a Shahsavan pile runner (by a dealer whose family is Shahsavan) which had Shahsavan motifs but with a structure that I would not expect in a Shahsavan pile rug - recent or old.
