Safi is a dealer not more than 15 miles from my house. I remember the ad and thought about going to see the bags, but never did. I had completely forgotten about them until now. I will pay Safi a visit.
The border is a simple design that is quite similar to the forms in the center of the primary motifs.
The piece you illustrated is extra weft knotted wrapping - a very tight and strong weave.
