Although it may be difficult to see on your monitor, the predominant "cruciform" motifs are quite precisely arranged, both diagonally and vertically. I can see that they are not out of alignment by more than a knot or two in any direction.

The "bumping and shoving" occurs when the diamond shaped medallions are introduced, sometimes in lieu of the crucifom motifs and sometimes in addition to them.

Also, the weaver has done a credible job of alternating the color juxtapostion of each crucifom motif so that there is little repetition. The regimentation is broken by spontaneity, I think. But I'm not sure it was intentional.
