Ok, it was a visual comparison. But there must be other methods of comparison. For example, one of them which is "color comparison" is being discussed in another thread now.
I like biology even though I know very little about it. No, I will not repeat "smell" as a period remembering your saying that the rugs don't have particular odors. But there may be odor differences between an old and a new rug due to the chemical decompositions in time. For example, a dog or another animal whose nose work well, can see the differences? If so, this can be worth to think about. How can it be done? Well, I have an idea but it is not necessary to tell if a dog can not see the difference of odors due to such kind of chemical changes.
