As none of the respondents attended the Basel conference, I tend to question the seriousness of any of them.
And in fact, none of them attended TURKOMAN CHICAGO where they could have met two of the leadding authorities on the subject;
I hope these respondents don't reflect the attitude of two smug New England collectors who commented that:
"What on earth would I do that for? What are they going to tell me that I don't already know!"
"A rediculous idea. I wouldn't pay for that if they came to my own living room."
I believe that the attendees at TURKOMAN CHICAGO feel that they got their money's worth, and that similar activities could generate a greater understanding and appreciation for all groups of ethnographic weavings.
