: : : after perusing this board i am curious and ask -
: : : do you guys really enjoy this?
: : : can't you realize that C14 has no relevance in the dating of oriental rugs?
: : : the labs that do this work need the business and they are just as much in the dark as you rug collectors!
: : : the only reliable method available at this point is comparative analysis of similar pieces to create a continuum -
: : : please start using your energies in a more realistic way that might really provide something useful for oriental rug studies

: : To Jack Cassin aka info@weavingartmuseum:

: : Mr. Cassin, this is not a board for "anonymous" postings and I think everyone prefers it that way.
: : "The only reliable method is comparative analysis of similar pieces to create a continuum-"??? Perhaps you are correct, but I find this highly amusing in light of your comments elsewhere that the so-called Cyr Turkoman is a late copy of absolutely no importance. How then does one commence this comparative analysis of similar pieces to create a continuum when you would discard related pieces?
: : By the way, many of us do enjoy this.

: Dear Michael,

: I'd like to give another example to "Cyr" rug which may disturb continum. It is Pazyryk rug. Could you give an answer to your questions by considering both, i.e. pazyryk and cyr rug? I know my idea on both is also amuzing and strange but you may have a look at post at Show_and_Tell board. (Link is below)

: E. Abit

: ps. Actually, bringing "cyr" here and repeating again and again is a little boring and.

Dear Erol:

I agree with you that raising the Cyr carpet again is a little boring. My point was simply to make it clear who "founder" was and the purpose of his post. I prefer to let it rest and move on to the other interesting questions thoughtfully raised by Yon Bard in this Salon. Thank you for your interest and thoughts. Michael
