I think the best book on Anatolian flatweaves is "The Tribal Eye" by Peter Davies for both content and pictures. Other favorites include "Kilim The Complete Guide" by Hull and Luczyc-Wyhowska (readily available), and for pictures alone (since some of the commentary seems a little silly at times) "The Caroline & H. McCoy Jones Collection of Anatolian Kilims" and the Vok Collection of Anatolian Kilims. Since I can neither find (or in most cases, afford) pieces like those in the books, I am usually just content to look at pictures. After all, since there is such an immense variety of Anatolian kilims, the armchair method of collecting can be a satisfactory compromise (at least at times!).
Regards!

: I'd like to get started compiling a "Best" list which, maybe, we could add somewhere appropriate on the Site. The list should be compiled with the NOVICE collector in mind. (Once someone has pissed away a couple years of his/her life learning about rugs, they aren't going to take our collective judgment anyway.) Naturally, "best" is subjective so nominations should be supported with opinion.

: If for some reason you'd rather not cast your vote publicly, feel free to e-mail your choice to me. I'll add it to the tally. Most votes wins. Decision of the judge is final. I'm the judge.
