It seemed to me that you were rather optimistic in your initial posts about the value of rug books.
But here you write (in part) in response to Mr. Downie's indication that the pictures are central for him (a phenomenon that Hermann has cited as justifying the fact that he provides little text in his catalogs. They're "picture" books.):

Does this mean that we are a little closer to the "hyperbole" of the Jon Thompson estimate that I cited? Is the score now perhaps 50-50? Look at the pictures but be wary of the text?
