Of course, I have no quarrel with pointing out the dismal state of what passes for scholarship in Rugdom. My point in saying that I thought Jon Thompson was being facetious when he said 75% of what's in books is wrong is that this number is so large as to make it unbelievable that he was serious. I truly believe that you or I can tell a Turkmen from a Caucasian, even though the criteria by which we do so are things we learned from books or from people who learned them from books. And stuff like that is what most of the text content of rug books is.
