: My list is not exhaustive, of course, but I think it gives a beginner/student a pretty good start. And all of the books on it are fairly modestly priced, a very important consideration to someone who isn't sure yet just how far he/she wants to go, rug-wise.

Steve, and Jerry

I have found the book Tribal Rugs by Jenny Housego to be surprisingly comprehensive, insightful and inexpensive. I do not think it has been updated since it was originally published, but I believe it was ahead of its time.
