Dyes in the Aging Process

I have often wondered whether the colors of the wool, when repairing large areas or adding missing borders, would look the same, if perfectly repaired today, in the next ten or twenty years. Even if "old" wool is used for the pile restoration, wouldn't it age differently than the original wool? Does anyone have any positive experiences of making restorations of at least ten years and the colors aging at the same rate?

Regards,
Irwin
