There must be reasons why I devote the time and energy I do to this activity. I point no fingers. And I quite like the notion that Art might be a window-washer in Madison (do they actually have to do that there?). And, as you point out, living vicariously through one's children for example is an instance of human to human relationships that can potentially go awry in similar ways. My "worrying" about such things does not seem to interfere seriously with my pursuit of the next rug. Or with my gazing frequently and deeply into the faces of some of the better ones I own.
