Actually, the image in Daniel's rug is very similar to a set of images that I used to see whole books of in my childhood and that my father once taught me to draw. The only requirement is that the image be a face right side up and also upside down. The constructions are often very imaginative since particular features in the "right-side-up" image have to function in utterly different ways in the reverse image. I found one of these books in a flea market recently and gave it to a grandchild. Too bad I don't have it at hand. It's sober images are frequently very like of the second image Daniel presents.
