Dear Turkotekkers:
My results are as follows:
ENSI # 1: 3, 2, 2, 3, 2, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1 = 20 total points
ENSI # 2: 3, 2, 2, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1 = 19 total points
ENSI # 3: 1, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 0, 1, 1 = 12 total points
BIDJAR: 3, 3, 3, 1, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 = 18 total points
KUBA #5: 3, 3, 3, 1, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1 = 19 total points
KHOTAN: 2, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 0, 2, 2, 1 = 13 total points
I thought the threads developed in this salon were of great interest. Being out of town several days, I found the development of some ideas as people absorbed more of the rules was of particularly compelling. Thanks to our authors and moderators for this topic. My favorite rugs were the Bidjar and Ensi # 2. The Bidjar appeals to my taste for persianate designs and color. I liked the order and color of Ensi #2, though I also liked # 1. The Khotan is also good. Perhaps my least favorite was the Kuba which struck me as fairly standard and uninspired. I note that Wendel Swan rated this rug the highest by the rules and commented it had the greatest contrast of color and superior execution. I do not share this view and am not sure why, perhaps some subjective feelings crept in here while applying the rules.
Thanks again to John and Nikos.
Regards, Michael
