: Yon, it seems to me that this just transfers the problem of justifying why any of us should treat the aesthetic judgments of any of the rest of us seriously from the rug itself to the recognition of what a "creative artist" might be. And it only does so temporarily. Pesumably, the evidence of creativity would be in the artist's work products which takes us back to the rugs.

John, I was just reacting to Marvin's contention that there are only two choices for the manufacturer: to apply the rules or to copy recognized masterpieces. However, please also see the new topic 'rules and the arts' which I am starting.
