Dear Saul and Steve,
I very much like your idea of creating a space for discussing the subject of Oriental Rugs and the peoples who wove them, with emphysis on providing bench marks of quality/excellence/veracity.
The question in my mind now is how to best accomidate what Saul is describing.
Currently TurkoTek has two venues and is about to open a third.
The first is the Salon concept which began when Steve invited a small group of us to exchange images via e-mail for appreciation and comments. The volume of e-mail quickly overwhelmed most of us, which resulted in our converting our priviate e-mail group into a public discussion board which evolved into the TurkoTek Salon concept.
In addition to the Salons, TurkoTek is providing study group discussion areas where people who have highly specialized interests can work together to expand their individual knowledge. However, by their nature, study groups tend to be highly technical and not of interest to most people.
In the next week TurkoTek will open a third venue which will be a "Virtual Show and Tell" forum. This will be a return to the concept that Steve origionally started with the e-mail group. The concept of what we hope to achieve is also described by Yon Bard in a prior post in this Salon, titled "A Suggestion".
The question in my mind now is how to best accomidate what you are describing. I think that it is different from either a salon or a study group.
Regards,
Larry
