Just a few points.
1. I agree that Larry Clark (the ethnographer) had the most interesting lecture at the last TM convention.
2. Although my reactions to the others was much more positive than yours (my review of the convention will be in the next issue of GHEREH, and details are really not relevant to this discussion anyway) I did not think this was one of the better lecture series in TM Rug Conventions.
3. Even in a sub-par year, I think many would agree that the overall quality of the TM Convention lectures exceeds that of most ICOC lecture sessions.
Please don't misunderstand me, I don't think the lectures were the high point of any rug conference I've ever attended. But I do think we need to bear in mind the objectives of conference organizers as a backdrop to evaluating various elements of a conference.
