: There is a tradition from the North that the deceased is placed on a rough sledge and sent off on a one way journey. There are octagonal Turkoman gulls that strongly resemble a sledge. The imsge of a Khan holding a small dog isn't so far fetched either but for that the be incorporated on an object of prestigue and dowry is less likely than the representation of the khans personal hunting animals. Of course logically either position is equally valid and no first hand account is known. JIM
