Dear Steve, Michael et al -
Although your point about collecting whole pieces is sound in a world of unlimited resources, it seems to me unnecessary and not quite correct to sniff at those attracted to fragments. I collect on a budget and many pieces that exist are beyond my financial reach. But I sometimes buy, and plead guilty to enjoying greatly, fragments that I'm attracted to. Here is one that I owned briefly recently and that I would own in a minute again. There are complete Tekke rugs like this in the market but that did not interfere with my enjoyment of a relatively small part of one.
Regards,
John Howe
