Dear folks,

I thought you would be interested to see another B/W picture, which is from Hali 101 page 137.

This rug with a "salatchak" format is presented as a Yomut Turkmen Horse cover - second half 19th century.

Hali comments:

"A strange piece; neither the white ground nor the design are noted in the literature. The structure too is unusual: asymmetric knots open right, with wefts of mixed wool and cotton. Five strips with the "soldat" design divide the field, forming rectangular compartments with a design based on a Kufic border, which alternates in the color of the ornaments, between red outlined in blue and blue outlined in red."
