Like you, I find this piece very charming, probably mostly because the colors are used so nicely and the whole thing seems so cheerful. Your comment to the effect that a fragment would probably satisfy you as well as the whole rug is nearly a post facto prophesy fulfilled, if such a series of contradictions is allowable. Had a bit more been cropped, a fragment is what you'd see!
