Good idea, Daniel. This is definitely going to be fun. We seem to be able to test empirically the assertions we make about what would be desirable. I would say it's an improvement but our friend Alexander's going to object yet to the randomness of the placement of the remaining devices. He feels the best designs are those in which all the space both positive and negative is inter-related systematically in the overall design.

I should also say that I admire very much your being willing to be the first host, as well as the polite relative silence you've managed in the face of all this "knowledgable" abuse of your nice little piece. I'm looking forward to your summary. :-)

: Dear folks,

: I liked how Wendel presented side by side color and B&W images of this rug.

: I wanted to see what would be the result if the weaver had omitted many of the small devices that fill the field . So I repainted half of this rug (only on my monitor). You can now compare the result.

: Does it modify your comments?

: Best wishes
