Old Estonian rug

Here's some pictures of my old Estonian rug. The patern is based on national "kirivöö" belt motives. Weaven about 80 years ago.

Hi Liivi

Those are wonderful weavings. I know nothing about European textiles, so maybe the answer to this question is obvious. Do these resemble traditional work from anywhare in Europe besides Estonia? Other Baltic states, because of the geographic proximity, or Finland, because of the historical relationship between Estonians and Finns?

Hi,i´m not sure about Latvia and Lithuania,but woven "kirivöö" belts also belong to national clothing there.I´m sure Finnish people know such belt motif carpets too,but there most popular carpets are "ryijy",small hand knotted carpets.Ryijy is not so high level knot work as Persian carpet,knowledge is from viking time,when vikings travel to Konstantinopol and other oriental world.Lots of motifs of "ryijy" is very similar to other oriental carpets.
