Rug #5 from the Venociano painting

It's hard to tell from the photo that was posted of this painting, but I have a small border fragment from a 16th century Spanish carpet that seems similar to the rug in this paining. I used to have a much nicer and larger fragment from the field of the carpet. It had an allover lotto design. I'll see if I can find a photo of my fragment and I'll post it later today.

Ben Mini.

Spanish Carpet Fragment

Here is the fragment:

The colors look similar to the rug in the painting. There is a light blue in my fragment that isn't showing up well in the photo. Waddya think? I can't really tell. Ben Mini

Spanish rug

Bonjour Ben

Your post is ivery interesting. I think you are near of the real origin of this rug. Your border matches, appart for the meander line that appears on yours but is not present on the painting.

I have no knowledge of spanish rugs.
Is there a publication about them ?

Meilleures salutations à tous
