Hello all, I recently purchased this rug from a dealer in Belgium. He labeled it Tekke but I’m not convinced. The closest example reference I can find is in Jourdan’s Turkoman book on page 167, illustration number 120 which he attributes to The Yomut. The two rugs have similar fields, colors, and elims. The Salor guls both have the same center medallion which I have not seen elsewhere. My rug has symmetrical knots, a smooth back, at least 8 colors, and red/blue alternating selvedges which I believe are indicative of Yomut. Before I received the rug I thought it might be Saryk given the S borders but upon seeing the piece in person the back is smooth and the white is wool not cotton so I dropped that thought. Jourdan dates the rug in his book at about 1900. I would appreciate any thoughts on my analysis and the age of the rug. Given its density of detail it’s probably not very early.
