I'm repairing this old Baluchi rug and am finding it a bit odd.
It seems wider than you'd expect at 1.45m (most of the Baluchis in my books don't go over 1.3m) and it has five columns of guls against the more normal 3 or 4.
It's symmetrically knotted, which is not that uncommon, but it also has that stepped motif that I can't find anywhere else.
Do you guys think it's unusual or do I just not have enough Baluchi rug books?
The size is unusual, but not unheard of. I had one that was 13' x 10' years ago; had noplace to put it except in a sunroom. so I traded it for something else.
What I find more unusual than the shape is the field design and palette combination in a symmetrically-knotted 'Baluch'. Could you post a picture showing the color from the back of the rug?
