ID:	1047 It’s very difficult to find any information on the Igsalik and even harder when it’s a flatweave. I have only find one example that was sold in the UK recently. The example was very similar and listed as a Yomut. Any help would be appreciated. The shoe in the pics is for size reference.

If you happen to see a small handmade key in one of the tassels, it was like that when I got it. That was a first!

    Hi Phil

The colors on the interior look to be in the Turkmen repertoire, the exterior has probably had a chemical wash. I haven't seen that layout in anything Turkmen, so my best guess is that it's from Central Asia, possibly an Ersari subgroup, but probably not not Turkmen. I don't know what to make of the key.

ID:	1056 Hello Steve. It’s a very unusual flat woven Yomut piece. This similar one picture was sold recently by a well known dealer listed as rare and Yomut 19c.
It’s an interesting pair for sure.

        Hi Phil

This one has a more typical Turkmen palette - yours may have had what used to be called an antique wash. Just a small point: the term rare implies that it has considerable value to collectors. These pieces are better described as unusual. Turkmen flatweaves are unusual and collectible (I own a flatwoven juval). It's a nice item, I'm glad to have it, but it's not especially valuable. Turkmen flatweaves typically have about 25% of the value of pile weaves of similar type, size and age.

Thanks Steve. For reference, I did use the term unusual and the dealer used the term rare. I appreciate your comments.

            Hi Joe

My apologies for confusing your name with Phil Smythe's. I'd really be grateful if you'd use your full name as your user name (please see the paragraph atop this page). If you send it to me or to Joel, we can change it by editing your profile.

Thanks Steve. I sent it to Joel. I attempted to change it myself but couldn’t figure it out.
