  • Breaking the silence

I took this pic in September in Ankara, Turkey near the east gate of the castle. Though out the last 40 years I’ve seen this area packed with numerous sacks. On this day, there was one. I will try to find pics of former times. Anyway, any guesses what’s in the bag?

    Hi Joe,

Few clues other than a) present day rather than antique, b) what looks like loosely woven wool fabric on top of or haning out of one, and c) clearly defied edge at upper right and white material seen in hole at lower right.

    In short, who knows.

Often, such bags are used for flour or for seeds/grains but that doesn't appear to be the case here.

    Maybe, laundry...

    Regards
    Chuck

“What’s in the bag” it’s wool of course. Looks like it was recently washed. The bag itself is just some nylon bag.

        Hi Joe,

Quite a few years ago, I had the opportunity to run down some information on a grain bag. The posts are in this very large thread (which you may find interesting for a number of reasons). The specific post where this content starts is 296.

        Regards
        Chuck
