Default Fachralo or not?

The seller thinks this is Kazak with some Fachralo motifs but isn't certain that it is Fachralo. What do we think?

NOTE: We don't permit discussion of pieces that are on the market, for an assortment of reasons. This one iss off the market and therefore OK for us. Steve Price

Hi Ian

The colors don't look right on my monitor for an antique Fachralo. It might be from that area and probably is.

Regards

This piece seems like a modern copy of 'Caucasian-esque" rug.

The borders are not typical nor the border pattern in the medallions.

Thanks, Steve

The central motif of the Chelaberd Kazak medallions (below) is shown 4 times in my rug.

Best

Ian

Hi Ian

If you send me the image or a link to it, I'll insert it into your post.

Hi Ian,

This is a scan from E. Gans-Ruedin's "Le Tapis du Caucase", pag. 104

Said to be a Kasak Fachralo, circa 1930.

It has the same minor medallions.

So, I would say: Fachralo, why not? Albeit a rather late one, like the above.

Regards,

Filiberto
