Here's a fragment of a Shahsavan 'bird' bag or mafrash that sold a while back. I was going to buy it until I was told the price! Anyway, what really appeals to me in this piece is the spaciousness of the design. Usually these birds are jammed together - compare this piece to all the other bird ones you can find. Thank you for the info. To me, the design in Richard's posting definitely looks more "archaic"--cf. the evolution of Turkmen weaving during the 19th century... Mikko |
