Hi


Here's a fragment of a Shahsavan 'bird' bag or mafrash that sold a while back. I was going to buy it until I was told the price!



Anyway, what really appeals to me in this piece is the spaciousness of the design. Usually these birds are jammed together - compare this piece to all the other bird ones you can find.

And just out of interest, the green feet and green parts of the trees are actually silk...

Thank you for the info. To me, the design in Richard's posting definitely looks more "archaic"--cf. the evolution of Turkmen weaving during the 19th century...
