Hello!
I was wondering if you would be kind enough to help me. I live in Trieste, Italy. I recently purchased an Esari Asmalyk from a well established rug shop here in Trieste. I have been a client of the owner for almost 20 years. Prior to purchasing the Asmalyk, he told me the following information -
The dyes are all natural. The Asmalyk/wool is soft and pleasant to touch I purchased the Asmalyk from a client that I have known for over 30 years. Hesold me 7 carpets in total. The reason he sold me the carpets was because he sold his house in Trieste. His wife died 4 years ago (they do not have any children) and after meeting a lady in Rome, he then decided to sell his house and move to Rome. He sold the house in Trieste because he didn't need it and above all it was full of memories of his past and above all his wife. The gentleman is over 70 years old and he told me that ever since he was a child the Asmalyk had always been part of the family. It was always hung on the wall of his parents' house. His parents told him that it belonged to his grandparents and even then it had always been hung on the wall. There has been various repairs to the Asmalyk. They can be easily seen in the parts where the colour of the wool is clean/white. Like all Rug Restorations, the colour and quality of the wool is different.
Please could you, if possible provide me with more information ... is the Asmalyk rare? I ask this because it is mostly Yomut Asmalyk's that I have seen for sale not Esari.
Obviously I have not uploaded any photos ... I can't understand how to upload the photos I have ... please can you help?
Thank you very much for your time and cooperation
